It’s not easy picking a few songs to call essential. But here’s what we think are some of the best Paramore songs. Maybe this short list will be your way to introduce new listeners to this awesome band.

“Crushcrushcrush” is an incredibly catchy song that is a great example of the band’s vocal work and instrumentation. With smooth lines and Williams’ excellent vocalist talents on full display it’s very much the rock sound that the band has defined early in their careers.

On the other hand, you could check out “Now” which was from the first album to not involve the Farro brothers. So it’s sound is noticeably different from Paramore’s early sound. It has a harder melody and a funky opening that still has enough of the old sound in it to satisfy longtime fans while plenty of new material to show that Paramore still has it going on.

“The Only Exception” is a slow soft rock song that is incredibly different from Paramore’s past work. It has a sound that, at first, seems like it would be a secondary track on a Taylor Swift album. But the sound coming from Paramore makes it stand out. It shows the vocal and musical range of the band in being able to capture moods and sounds that no one could have guessed they could.
